5 Short-Haul Ski Destinations

We’re so happy it’s ski season again – the white powder, blue skies, and all of the Gluhwein! Skiing is an amazing holiday to go on with family or friends, it’s just so much darn fun. If you haven’t been or are looking for somewhere to go with a short travel time, here’s our favourites.

1. Val d’Isère

Airport & transfer time: Chambery – 2 hours

Altitude: 3400m

Level: Great for beginners but limited for advanced skiers. Theres a terrain park and half pipe though to master those tricks.

Good for: For those starting out this is just the place. There’s 124 trails so lots to explore and the night life is an après-skiers dream.

2. Verbier 

Airport & transfer time: Geneva – 2 hours

Altitude: 3300m

Level: Intermediate with a some areas good for beginners and advanced.

Good for: A massive terrain with so much to explore with some good kickers and sometimes an airbag. The nightlife goes on until the early mornings. Prepare to see a lot of fur.

3. Courchevel

Airport & transfer time: Grenoble – 2 hours

Altitude: 3275m

Level: Something for everyone

Good for: Part of the 4 Valleys mountain range so you won’t get bored here for a week. There’s more michelin star restaurants here than you can shake your wallet at.

4. St Anton

Airport & transfer time: Innsbruck – 1 hour

Altitude: 2811m

Level: Great for Intermediates or those more experienced

Good for: The Austrians know how to party so the Gluhwein is always flowing. 3 great terrain parks and plenty of long runs into neighbouring villages.

5. Chamonix

Airport & transfer time: Geneva – 1 hour

Altitude: 3275m

Level: A great place for beginners

Good for: Powder and parties with a lot to explore for beginners.
