Hotspot: Exchequer & Wicklow Street – Dublin
Just off Grafton Street is where Wicklow Street joins onto Exchequer Street and it’s filled with great places to eat and drink. Whether it’s a delicious lunch or a place to party at the weekend, here’s where we’re loving.
Often seen as a hidden gem in Dublin, the Central Hotels Library Bar is a velvet-seated, fire-roaring, cosy escape from the bustling streets of Dublin. You’ll often find us frequenting one of the comfy seats by the fire with a glass of red in the Winter. PS. it’s great for date night.
The Exchequer is filled with apres-work punters on a Friday and cocktail-drinkers on a Saturday, it’s a great place to start your weekend. They also do a mean roast dinner deal on a Sunday which is a must to check out!
If you don’t find us in the food hall ordering one of their delicious sandwiches (seriously, the club sandwich is hands down the best in the city), then we’ll be upstairs in the restaurant sipping on a glass of Pinot enjoying the delicious offerings they serve up. They also have a stunning function room above the restaurant that is perfect for small weddings, parties or Christmas events.
As well as doing a mean bento box, Ukiyo is the best spot in town for a bit of karaoke! The private rooms downstairs will give you the space to sing your little heart out – it’s a great laugh if you’re with a group.
Love bagels? Then you needn’t look any further than Itsa Bagel. We’re not just talking your salmon and creme cheese either, they have an amazing array of options to try out, perfect for a mid-shop lunch.
6. Mary’s Bar
Step back in time to how pubs used to be with this beer-meets-hardware-shop on Wicklow Street. They have a great selection of craft beers to sip on in a lovely traditional setting, and you’ll find benches out the front when the sun is shining – a perfect spot for people watching.
Cornucopia is heaven for vegetarians and health-food-lovers alike. The food is so healthy and wholesome, it always has us going back for more. Take note, they also do a cook book!
