5 Places To Have A Dip On A Hot Day In Dublin
When it’s announced that there’s a heat wave on the way, it’s hard not to grab your towel and suncream and hit the beach, because where else would you rather be on a hot day than somewhere you can leap into the water! Dublin has so many great places to swim that are less than an hours drive away, some are even in the city. Here’s our 5 favourite places to take a dip on a hot day.
Right next to the Seapoint dart station is the Martello Tower and pier. It’s perfect for sunbathing and you can wade into the water down the steps. There are toilet facilities and changing rooms too.

2. Grand Canal Dock
People often think that Grand Canal Dock isn’t clean enough to swim in, but it is, it’s a man-filled area which doesn’t connect to the Liffey. Just think of it like one giant bath! You can also try out a spot of wake boarding down there too which is definitely a must.

3. White Rock
Head down the steps from Killiney to this small but stunning beach. It can be quite stoney as you get closer to the shore so bring sandals!

4. Skerries North Beach
This is a more sheltered beach than South Beach in Skerries so it’s better to visit if it’s a bit of a breezy day. There’s lots of places to eat, drink and walk near by too.

Sandycove is just a stones throw away from Dun Laoghaire pier and right next to the 40 foot (a great spot to leap off if you haven’t done it yet!) At weekends there’s often musicians to serenade you and an ice cream van – the perfect combo.
