5 Amazing Ikea Hacks

Going DIY on Ikea furniture is a great way to make a very plain and simple piece of furniture into something personalised and utterly amazing. Don’t spend months searching for the perfect piece for your hallway or bedroom when you can just take out the paint brush and make it yourself! Here are some of our favourite ideas from around the net:

1. Dip It

One of the easiest ways of transforming plain furniture is by painting it – like this gold dipped and peach side table from The Sweet Beast Blog. We adore the colour combination and use of gold here – she also removed a shelf to fit her extra tall Hunter Boots!

2. Paint Card Colour

Just as above, the Decor 8 Blog has used paint to update this plain white dresser but chose the same colour scale from a paint card. This is a great idea for getting paint tones to fade light to dark without having to think too hard about the colour choices!

3. Add Wood

We love this hack by City Farmhouse – she’s turned a very boring coffee table into a rustic country masterpiece with the use of paint and wood panelling. This is a great way to add texture to sometimes plasticy looking furniture.

4. Accessory Update

It’s not just large pieces of furniture that you can put your crafty skills to, but small home accessories like the finishing touches in a room. We love the idea of updating storage containers like these magazine holders by Homey Oh My.

5. Add Fabric

We’re in love with this table hack by Blog.Krysmelo as she’s turned a simple black framed table into a gorgeous cocktail Ottoman! The use of fabric here has transformed this into a luxurious and chic looking piece of furniture.
