1920’s Hair & Make Up

Did you hear, there’s a Prohibition party on in Dublins IMMA on the 14th March? That’s right, and we’re going! The last one held at Halloween was a sell out event and it’s set to be the same this time around (we did hear there are some tickets left though!). The 1920’s and 30’s has to be one of our favourite past eras – the glitz and glamour is right up our street and we can’t wait to get all dolled up in embellished dresses and feathers in our hair. This look isn’t just for fancy dress however, many celebs don the finger waves of the twenties and dark sultry lips which is perfect for any up scale event. Here’s a few hair and make up ideas inspired by this fabulous era.

1. The curly bob

Short hair was big in the 20’s and 30’s and if it wasn’t pin straight then it has a good curl to it. Long haired ladies can still make this look happen with a good pin up.

2. Dark lips and pale complexions

It was not about having a tan in this era – pale and perfect complexions were the way to go. Add a little pink to the cheeks, a simple black eye line and a dark deep rouge lip and you’re on point.

3. All about feathers

Having big feather head pieces was a sign of luxury and glamour – the bigger the better we say!

4. Be-jewelled hair

Another form of hair accessories were jewels and embellished head pieces. We love this look for bridal hair to add a touch of sparkle to your do.

5. The beauty spot

If you’re feeling a little flirty, add a beauty spot to your face – it doesn’t matter where. You’ll be V Great Gatsby!
